Maintaining A Relationship

What Kind Of Behavioural Traits Are Ideal For Maintaining A Relationship?

Relationships are tough work. On that we can all agree on but have you ever wondered if there are certain behaviours that are ideal for maintaining a relationship more so than others?

Well, there certainly is and this is also backed up by scientific studies. There have been scientific studies conducted that have showed there are a few behavioural traits in particular that are vital for maintaining the satisfaction level in a relationship, and of course, there are negative behaviours that erode the satisfaction as well.

So what are the positive behavioural traits you should be focusing on?

To put it simply, they are:

  • Assurances
  • Openness
  • Positivity
  • Social networks
  • Shared tasks

Scientific studies conclusively show that these above behavioural traits are most ideal for maintaining a relationship. So think about your own relationship for a moment? Perhaps you aren’t in a relationship, then think about how you could use these above traits in future relationships?

Perhaps you may realise that in the past you haven’t focused very much on these traits and maybe on some less desirable ones because there are also specific behavioural traits that have been found to erode relationship satisfaction.

Those found are:

  • Jealousy
  • Avoidance
  • Spying
  • Infidelity
  • Destructive conflict
  • Allowing control

So how can you use this information for your future or current relationships?

Well, it is quite simple. You need to be focusing on how you can apply the positive behavioural traits into your life with your next or current partner.

How open are you with them? Are you honest? Do you think of fun activities to do? Do you help your partner with activities, like organising dates, maybe a party?

There are many ways that you can apply these in your life if you think about it and the key is to do that and avoid the negative behavioural traits.

If you can do that then you’ll be far better off than those couples that don’t focus on the appropriate behavioural traits. You’ll also end up with a more satisfied partner as well.
